Incident affecting Google Ad Manager Data Transfer

Incident began at 2021-10-12 19:00 and ended at 2021-10-26 20:42 (times are in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC)).

Oct 26, 2021 8:42 PM UTC The problem with Google Ad Manager Data Transfer has been resolved. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and continued support.

The corrected files are in the process of being published and are starting to be available for most publishers. The full process will complete by end of day.

  • Hourly files published since October 16, Hour 0 (20211016_00) contain the correct NetworkActiveViews data
  • Hourly files published from October 12, Hour 0 (2021012_00) through October 15, Hour 23 (20211015_23) are expected not to contain the correct NetworkActiveViews data but will remain published.
  • Corrected NetworkActiveViews files are being published for every hour of the October 12 through October 15 impact window, and can be identified by the "_corrected" text appended to their file names, but a single hour 23 file (e.g. "20211012_23_corrected.gz") contain each impacted day's full data (4 files in total).

For publishers who use the BigQuery Connector you will now need to backfill for the affected days (instructions here).

Oct 21, 2021 11:54 PM UTC We expect to resolve the problem affecting a majority of users of Google Ad Manager Data Transfer at Oct 27, 2021, 12:00 AM UTC. Please note that this time frame is an estimate and may change. The affected users are able to access Google Ad Manager Data Transfer, but are seeing error messages, high latency, and/or other unexpected behavior.

Our Engineering team is currently validating the affected data needed to publish corrected files and provided more details regarding the delivery of such files:

  • Hourly files published since October 16, Hour 0 (20211016_00) contain the correct NetworkActiveViews data
  • Hourly files published from October 12, Hour 0 (2021012_00) through October 15, Hour 23 (20211015_23) are expected not to contain the correct NetworkActiveViews data but will remain published.
  • Corrected NetworkActiveViews files will be published for every hour of the October 12 through October 15 impact window, and can be identified by the "_corrected" text appended to their file names, but a single hour 23 file (e.g. "20211012_23_corrected.gz") will contain each impacted day's full data (4 files in total).
  • Corrected files are now expected to be re-published by end of day October 26th, 2021.

Further Updates will be provided to confirm the status of the published corrected files.

Please note that this time frame is an estimate and may change. The affected users are able to access Google Ad Manager Data Transfer, but are seeing error messages, high latency, and/or other unexpected behavior.

Our Engineering team is currently validating the affected data needed to publish corrected files.

The corrected files were expected to be re-published by end of day October 21st, 2021 but the validation process is experiencing some delays and the new expected date for re-publishing the corrected files is by end of day October 25th, 2021

Re-published files will have the string "_corrected" appended to the file name, but the previous versions of the files will not be deleted from the bucket.

Further Updates will be provided to confirm the status of the published corrected files.

Please note that this time frame is an estimate and may change. The affected users are able to access Google Ad Manager Data Transfer, but are seeing error messages, high latency, and/or other unexpected behavior.

Our Engineering team is currently working on a plan to publish corrected files for the affected data.

The corrected files are expected to be re-published by end of day October 21st, 2021

Re-published files will have the string "_corrected" appended to the file name, but the previous versions of the files will not be deleted from the bucket.

Further Updates will be provided to confirm the status of the published corrected files.

Oct 15, 2021 6:46 PM UTC We're aware of a problem with Google Ad Manager Data Transfer affecting a majority of users. We will provide an update by Oct 19, 2021, 5:00 PM UTC detailing when we expect to resolve the problem. Please note that this resolution time is an estimate and may change. The affected users are able to access Google Ad Manager Data Transfer, but are seeing error messages, high latency, and/or other unexpected behavior.

The root cause of the issue has been identified by our Engineering team, and the rollback to resolve the incident has fixed the underlaying issue.

Most files published between October 12th and October 15th 2021 12:00PM PDT might contain incorrect data.

October 16th 2021 is the first day after the rollback where all files contain correct data.

Our Engineering team is currently working on a plan to publish corrected files for the affected data.
